In case you need to ship a big volume, iContainers offers you FCL (Full Container Load) service for both import and export services. This service includes the rental of the container and the transportation from port of origin to port of destination.
Sea freight transportation is the most used mean of transportation and it is generally done by shipping containers . Although there are many types of different containers, most shipments are done using “standard” containers:
Standard 20 feet container dry
Standard 40 feet container dry
Standard 40 feet container High Cube dry
Internal door measures of the 20 feet container are 2,34m width (7’8”) x 2,28m (7’6”) height x 5,898m (19’4”) length. This container can be load up to 33,2m3 or 1.172ft3 and can hold 10 Standard Pallets (1,2m x 1m) or 11 Europallets (1,2m x 0,8m). Maximum carrying capacity is 24Tn.
Internal door measures of the 40 feet container are 2,34m width (7’8”) x 2,28m (7’6”) height x 12,032m (39’6”) length. This container can be load up to 67,7m3 or 2.390ft3 and can hold 21 Standard Pallets (1,2m x 1m) or 25 Europallets (1,2m x 0,8m). Maximum carrying capacity is 26Tn for seafreight and 24Tn for land trucking.
Standard containers usually also exist on a refrigerated variant in order to carry fresh cargo and there also are open top containers (20 feet and 40 feet) designed for those who need to load the goods from above or to carry cargo exceeding container height.
The price of a full container shipment depends not only on the container size but also on the route and its demand and supply. Containers are owned by shipping companies and are lend to the exporters/importers to be used during the seafreight transportation.
