As a shipper, it’s difficult to evade a GRI. But there are measures you can take to reduce its impact. By staying well-informed and planning your shipments with a GRI in mind, you can prevent your business from taking too big of a price shock.
A GRI is an average amount by which shipping carriers increase their tariff rates applied to base rates. It can considerably increase your shipping costs, mainly if you’re handling large freight volumes.

Consider that US trucking industry is facing a growing shortage of qualified drivers in both the international and domestic markets. Carriers are experiencing huge problems both on trucks and rail ramps at the following ports: New York, Savannah, Columbus, Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, Houston. There are fees announced for New York, Detroit, Minneapolis, Tacoma and Seattle terminals. The scenario can cause several delays. We'll keep posting any information related to it.
Please note our vendors have announced the following price changes on the trucking service:
• A Fuel Surcharge (FCS) increase from USA to all US inland destination. The expected increase is a 26%.
• A Fuel Surcharge (FCS) increase from US West Coast to all US inland destination. The expected increase is a 32%.

We have received notices regarding GRI (General rate increase) and surcharges from shipping companies or official authorities affecting routes SPAIN -USA.
The estimated surcharge is effective from August 1st, 2022, that could reach 80 USD/CBM.
GRI estimation is not included in our rates as we have not received a definitive confirmation of the increase from the shipping companies.
The final price for your shipment will depend on the confirmed GRI effective on the date your cargo is loaded (not on the date of reservation) and on the total of any other surcharges as mentioned above.
